Tiffany Haddish

Tiffany Haddish won over millions of women (30 million to be exact) when we all flooded movie theaters everywhere to watch the highly-anticipated film, Girls Trip. Despite being the fresh new face amongst some of our favorite actresses, Haddish delivered a break out performance and owned every second of the film. Her performance left women everywhere with sore cheeks from non-stop laughter and applauding her for saying something we have all wanted to say. It’s no doubt that Tiffany Haddish has arrived on the scene, but where exactly did she come from?

Tiffany Sarah Haddish hails from Los Angeles, California and before her breakout role in Girls Trip, her talent can be seen on shows such as OWNs, If Loving You Is Wrong and The Carmichael Show. Haddish the oldest of five siblings, is no stranger to tough times as a kid. At an early age, she assumed the role of care giver to her mom and younger siblings after her mother was involved in a traumatic car accident that she later found out was caused by her Step-Father severing the break line in the vehicle. Haddish’s childhood was filled with depression, foster homes, and even a near death experience with toxic shock syndrome. Despite the hand she was dealt; like a phoenix from the ashes, she rose. Tiffany Haddish used comedy as her escape and as Koereyelle teaches, she turned her pain into a paycheck. Here are 3 things we can all learn from Tiffany Haddish and her story.

Forgiveness: Experiencing an abusive mother and step-father, an absent biological father, in and out of foster homes, and a failed marriage. Tiffany Haddish taught us forgiveness. Despite the pain that someone has caused you, you must forgive them. Forgiveness is about you and no one else. For you to move past hurt and progress in life, you must be able to forgive those who have harmed you.

Patience and Resilience: At any point in her life, Haddish could have given up and fell victim to her environment. She could have easily sat around and complained about her life and how everything around her seemed to fail; but she didn’t. She was patient and resilient! She was determined to achieve the dreams she set for herself of becoming an actress and comedian. Haddish vowed to never let anyone alter her journey to success. We all need to be patient and resilient when it comes to our own lives and successes. Never give up! Understand that your time is coming. You just need to remain focused and diligent while on the journey.

Laughter Is Good for the Soul: Choosing comedy after being given an ultimatum by her social worker, Haddish found that laughter was a great escape. She found that not only did it heal her, but it also made other people feel good. Laughter provides a moment in time where nothing else matter but happiness. Live life and laugh a lot. When things seem to not be going your way, find your local comedy club or put on a funny movie and laugh it out!
