Spring Cleaning- Taking out the Trash

With the change of seasons and the arrival of spring, many people make deep cleaning their homes one of their priorities. You may go the extra mile and clean baseboards, pay extra attention to detail when removing dust and dirt from cracks and corners, and put together bags of clothes that you haven’t worn in a while to give away. Spring cleaning is common, right?

While you may be cleaning your physical home, have you ever considered that it may be time for you to evaluate some people, relationships, and habits in your life and clean those as well? For example, if you have friendships that resemble the types of fickle friendships like the Atlanta Housewives, friends today, frenemies tomorrow, you have to ask yourself, “Is this relationship healthy and is it really something that I NEED?’ If you are stuck in a situationship with a man you just can’t get enough of, and you know deep down inside that it won’t lead to your goal of getting married, maybe it’s time for you to seriously cut that off.

Here are 3 tips to Spring Cleaning your life and setting yourself up for success for the remainder of 2017:

  1. Evaluate your relationships. Are there some toxic relationships in your life? Relationships that bring drama, stress, uneasiness and overall discontentment to your life? If so, ponder on these relationships and examine who is involved. If the involved person is a relative, you can place some loving distance between the two of you; and if it’s a relationship, you have to really determine the mental and emotional sacrifice it’s worth for you to keep an unfruitful relationship in your life.

  1. Evaluate yourself. Maybe it’s time for you to make some different decisions than you are used to making. Nothing great ever happens inside of comfort zones and if you want something different, then you have to do something different. Remember, you can’t change anything or anyone but yourself and when you change certain things within yourself, then things around you will change also.

  1. Go and look back at your vision board and goal sheet that you created in January. How many of your goals have you accomplished so far this year? Have you fallen totally off track? Everything that you do needs to be in alignment with what you said you wanted to accomplish. If you find yourself not on the track to accomplishing the goals which you have established for yourself, then you should do your best to get back focused on yourself for a while so that by the time December rolls around, you can rest easy knowing that you worked hard to make 2017 the year of your dreams.

It’s only the second quarter of the year and if you’ve fallen off track, it’s not too late to get back to your plan and press the reset button on your goals and desires. Be encouraged and know that the power to change your life lies within you!
