Is being a single mother leaving you loveless? If so, you are not alone. Whether you were in a relationship that didn’t go well, divorced, or widowed. Either way, you are now charged with the challenge of caring for your children on your own, as well as, making sure your intimate needs are met.

The Huffington Post reports that 8 out of 10 single mothers avoid dating because they feel pressure to find the perfect mate. There is a social undertone that says that single mothers should be looking for eligible bachelors that will also double as good fathers for their children. This is absolutely ridiculous.

Here’s why?

Single Mothers Need Love Too — Just because you are a mother does not mean that you stop being a woman. And as a woman you deserve to be wined, dined, and swept off your feet without having to bring every guy you like home to meet your children.

You Should Always Explore Your Options The truth is, every man you date will not be good enough to bring home to your children, and that’s ok.

Date with Good Intentions—Your only goal when dating is to go out and have fun. Enjoy yourself, no one deserves it more than you. And if you happen to meet a wonderful guy that you are compatible with I am sure he will also be a good support for you and your children.

The 90 Day Rule—Don’t give it up too quick. It’s easy to fall for the first man that makes you feel good, especially if it’s been a while since you’ve been intimate. But, I encourage you to wait awhile. It is so easy to confuse the hormones of lust and love. And often times, when we mistake one for the other we end up regretting the decision in the end. Your best bet is to take a cold shower and wait until the time is right.

The moral of the story is that you deserve love, intimacy, fun, and mind blowing sex. If you feel ready to date, then go ahead and date. There is no rule that you have to choose between motherhood and love.
