The official mentors of The Single Wives Club, The Wives Society, brought the ‘Slay’ to Werk Pray Slay weekend in Atlanta, Georgia! Imagine an atmosphere created full ofencouraging women, big hats and a beautiful delectable brunch. Founder of The Single Wives Club, Koereyelle DuBose, made that possible. One word can’t describe how empowering this event was. Mentor, Coach, Publisher, Mother and Wife, Lakia Brandenburg, gracefully hosted the Big Hat Brunch Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015. Entering the beautiful venue, Scales 925, a new upscale lounge of Atlanta, GA; guests were invited by smiling faces, a red carpet, and a beautiful photo opp backdrop! Behind all of the glitz and glamour, there five specific moments I cherished at the Big Hat Brunch!

After the guests mingled and admired one another’s hat, The Wives Society hosted a daytime television style segment of The Wives’ Hot Topics. From various juicy topics like newly celeb marriages to fresh celeb divorce news. While talking about celebs, each of the wives were very transparent with sharing their viewpoint on marriage and divorce. While many agreed that divorce is glamorized on reality television, newlywed wife and event planner Mrs. Alicia Fitch made it clear that her and hubby are in it for forever. “I am just so thankful to be married to my best friend,” Mrs. Fitch happily stated.

2015 Clair Huxtable Award Speech

Patrice C. Washington, personal finance columnist, television commentator, radio host, author, and speaker accepted her award with great modesty. Washington wears these hats with so much grace all while being a full time mommy and full time wife. “There is no greater title I wear than being Gerald Washington’s wife and Reagan Washington’s mother,” Mrs. Patrice C. Washington, “I’m so thankful to have received the Claire Huxtable award today at The Single Wives Club ‘Wives Who Brunch’ event! It’s presented each year to, ‘A woman who balances life and love with style and grace.’ I’m not sure how well I balance, because my goal has only been to create harmony to the best of my ability, but I’m very certain that I intentionally fight for our marriage, continuously invest in my personal and professional growth and consistently put my faith in God to direct my path. Everything else falls into place as it should.”

The Good, Bad and Ugly of Marriage

“I’m petty y’all,” Mrs. Lakia Brandenburg admitted to the attendees. You may hear petty andwant to laugh. Although, Mrs. Brandenburg admitted that her pettiness turned into her ugly. Thankfully she was able to receive a message from that petty moment with her hubby and turned it into a lesson for the attendees! Wife and therapist Mrs. Nikhol B. Jackson was also very transparent with her bad moment of her marriage. It was quite refreshing to see all of the wives talk about the bad and ugly of their marriages yet they never gave up and are still living that wifestyle today! “My good is watching how my husband and I have grown. Growth is a beautiful thing, especially when you see it within your own relationship,” said Mrs. Sakeissa Robinson.

Brunch…duh!

What better way to spend brunch than in Atlanta with Mimosa’s, French Toast, Chicken and Waffles, Shrimp and Grits and more? And to top it off, V. Taybron, Founder of Savor V and¼ of The Single Wives Club Dream Team graced all attendees with her delectable cupcakes!

Date Him  or Diss Him

The entire brunch was amazing, but with all the encouragement, there a was a lot of transparency and live coaching. Guests in the audience shared testimonies, asked for advice and learned something key from the wives. Questions varied from different situations such as: The guy you like has different faith/religious  than you, do you date or diss him? He treats you really well but he’s not physically attractive to you, do you date or diss him? As attendees eagerly answered or thought about it, the girl talk arrived full fledge with this cute Date or Diss game!

Werk Pray Slay brought women from cities like New York City, St. Louis, Atlanta, Chicago, Miami and also from all over the world via Periscope’s live stream! In addition, great food, bombmimosa’s and girl talk makes for a successful brunch right? Yes! Needless to say all of the attendees appetites were fed, but also their minds, souls and hearts were fed during this amazing event.

Yours Truly,
