Go to work. Be overworked. Go home. Exhausted. The cycle continues day after day, until something inside of you screams for more substance! If you’re like most Americans who have finally realized that it’s hard to live your dreams while working for someone else, then you’re probably wondering what it’ll take to start your own business.
The truth is, it’s going to take A LOT. Probably EVERYTHING you have, mind, body and spirit to start a successful, long-lasting brand and begin building wealth. But, the WERK it takes will most definitely be worth it. Wouldn’t you rather spend five years grinding it out 24/7 than 50 years coasting through life paycheck to paycheck never really able to get ahead?
Whether you want to believe it or not, that’s how life usually goes for the majority of Americans. We live to get by; never really enjoying life, surviving not thriving. If you’re sick and tired of being sick and tired, it’s time to take action. Create a life that will afford you unlimited wealth, bonuses based on your work ethic and a freedom based lifestyle! You can do all of that and so much more when you are your own boss! So you wanna be an entrepreneur?
Here are 7 quick start steps to begin your entrepreneurial journey:
Start A Blog
Successful entrepreneurs have established trustworthy brands. In order to gain the trust of your clients, you have to establish yourself as an expert. The easiest way to do that is by blogging about the topics that fit your expertise, industry or interests. Blogging is free and allows you to have a voice! The best blog platform is WordPress because it allows you to easily recreate your website with a new theme and provides a simple method of transferring old data to a new site, essentially keeping all of your content “safe.”
Purchase a domain
Whenever I think of a new business idea, I check to see if the domain name is available. If it is, I purchase it- whether I have a business plan, strategy or even a full concept in mind. If the concept is on your mind, surely it’s on someone else’s too! So, do a quick GoDaddy.com search and if your name is available, go ahead and purchase it. I always recommend GoDaddy because they take GREAT care of their customers and provide outstanding service and support! Research domain extensions prior to purchasing yours. .com is the most popular, .edu is dedicated to educational organizations and .org is used mostly for non-profits. There are several other options, .net/.biz etc. so be sure to do your research before choosing yours.
Set up a Business Email
Do NOT. I repeat DO NOT use @yahoo @hotmail @me @aol or any other personal email extension. If you absolutely refuse to go through the proper steps to get an official @yourdomainname email, at least create a google account dedicated to your business or brand. Whether you want to believe it or not, consumers judge you based on your domain, email and social media FIRST!
Add a Business Line
It’s important to keep your business calls separate from your personal calls, to protect your own space and sanity. If your budget won’t allow a local phone, or toll free business service AT LEAST get a Google phone number so that you don’t have to share your personal cell phone information. A great service for Entrepreneurs is Grasshopper, they provide business phone services and make it super easy to manage a team.
