The Single Wives Society kicked off our first book chat of the year with a bang. The selected book of the month was The Game of Life and How to Play It by Florence Scovel Shinn. This book was the perfect selection, as described by our members, to begin the year with. The book shares affirmations and real life examples on how to find clarity, prosperity, and self-improvement. Our members were able to have self-reflection and evaluation over their lives. It is an understatement on how this classic provided our members with empowerment and solutions to their current life situations. The Game of Life and How to Play It helps you focus both mentally and spiritually.
“Most people consider life a battle, but it is not a battle, it is a game”. This opening statement definitely gets your mind going. When asked their opinions our ladies stated it was a mindset, life is what you make it, and a strategy. I personally envisioned it as a game of chess or checkers; you must know the rules of the game in order to win. I would even go so far as to claim life is all about strategic thinking, you must always be aware of the possibilities, the opportunities, the consequences, and the results of your decisions. The book also revealed different laws such as prosperity, the power of the word, karma and forgiveness. The author used great biblical references to assist with guiding her readers with self-analysis. She used many positive affirmations to remind people how important it is to create the life we desire. I personally enjoyed the book and it repeatedly stuck out to me that our words are powerful and hold meaning. I encourage you ask, believe, and receive whatever it is you want. You hold the key and can manifest your hearts desires. Let’s manifest great things into our lives and be open to all in 2015.
